Noah Brier pointed me to minimalist Jack Shedd, who calls for a halt to extraneous, self-serving social media debris on Web sites. He says:

    did you already clean up your blog? comments, posts, search, site tags, about you are all kind of necessary, no? twitter has become important as well. you can't really drop your sponsor, or your company. maybe MyBlogLog? looks like Jack doesn't even have comments available!

    I did already clean up a bit. I can do a lot more. I actually want to hire a
    real designer to help me out. I want a lot more white space and airyness,
    along with minimal but rich colors. MyBlogLog is a bit tired, so I may get
    rid of that soon.
